As the novel To the Lighthouse wins great fame, the researches on Virginia Woolf and this representative novel by scholars at home and broad has achieved many basic and acknowledged agreements. Many papers and dissertations are relevant to the stream-of-consciousness topic---through Analysis of the characters'' spiritual world. Scholars have observed the rhetorical device such as metaphor, personification, symbolism and so on. Moreover, this novel not only covers the stream-of-consciousness, but also the feminism reflected in this novel, which is still an absorbing theme in current study.In 2006, Liu shujuan highly commended Virginia Woolf抯 novel To the Lighthouse. From analyzing the plots and characters, she thought this novel was filled with distinctive feminist characteristics. In her opinion, the depth and breadth to the understanding of Virginia Woolf for feminism has been beyond eras. Even more, compared with the radical feminism, it was still no less than it. In her essay, she clarified that To the Lighthouse is her conscious utilization of feminism.In 2008，wangjing analyses the feminism of Mrs. Ramsay. In her essay, he thought that Virginia Woolf exposed the current situation of the opposite duality between the male and female and overturned the assimilated criterion on the judgment of the female images, which raised by the male in the traditional male dominated society. Therefore, the relationship between symbolism and feminism is complex and also is an angle to research.
