eddy current pulsed thermography (ECPT) is a newly developed non-destructive testing (NDT) technique that provide advantages over other active thermography techniques in defect detection and analysis. Eddy current pulsed thermography is the integration of eddy current and thermography techniques. Thus, it has the advantage of high resolution, high sensitivity, standoff measurement distance and quick inspection of a large area within a short time. Corrosion in coastal regions is extremely relevant issue owing the latter's great importance to human society. About half of the world's population lives in coastal regions and the industrialization of most developing countries tends to concentrate production plants close to the sea. But corrosion due to marine atmosphere has induced fatigue and failures cause fatal disaster which has had a large economic impact for years. Thus, corrosion characterization is meaningful for safety of society and industry. many nondestructive testing and evaluation (NDT this project works on mining information of different corrosion stages, which helps us to avoid structural failures from happening. Finally, to do the project as expected the following points must be checked: understanding the working principle of corrosion detection by ECPT. Understanding the basics of image processing with MATLAB. Understanding the use of skewness to analyze the processed data. And present a well-done final project.
